EN At the end of his life, the painter Balthus used to live and work in a Swiss village called Rossinière. A Geometric Space to Fill Up questions on the politics of place and its topography. It is an observation on the village and the surroundings which have inspired the painter. It combines shots of farmed land and untouched scenery, with a voice-over narrating an Antonin Artaud's text about Balthus’ approach to painting.

FR Un Espace Géométrique à Remplir est un regard posé sur le paysage Suisse alpin et plus particulièrement sur le village de Rossinière, lieu choisi par Balthus pour peindre pendant les dernières années de sa vie. Cette vidéo aborde elle aussi le temps à travers une réflexion sur l’influence de l’environnement sur le processus artistique et émet un commentaire sur la notion politique de la topographie.
